More than 6,000 vintage pieces of artisan-crafted stoneware, art pottery, dinnerware & folk art bring the story of historic Red Wing to life in dozens of exhibits covering 13,000 square feet.
Check out the QR codes around the museum for further information about the exhibits.
Currently on view: "The Red Wing Saloon:"
This exhibit shows what a pre-prohibition saloon looked like prior to January 16, 1920 when the 18th Amendment was passed. Red Wing produced many liquor advertising stoneware jugs for sellers - in one month alone in 1910 the pottery shipped more than 6400.
Then see a bootlegger's camp as liquor "went underground" and was not able to be sold publicly.
However your group chooses to come, by riverboat, bicycle, or car, we can provide a tour to suit your needs. Call Nancy at 651.327.2220 for more information and to schedule your experience.
We hope that you will be able to join us at these upcoming events!
It is our mission to preserve Red Wing and other American stoneware, art pottery, and dinnerware and expand the public's awareness of these wares not only as an art form but also as an historical reflection of American culture.
