In 1927 Red Wing Union Stoneware Company moved away from its "beehive" downdraft kilns and installed a Harrop tunnel kiln. At 385 feet long, it was the longest tunnel kiln in the world. Decades of neglect, however, have left the kiln a shell of its former self. Much of the length is gone, and only two ruined sections remain.
